Important Notice for LiveCad Users

As you may have witnessed in a the past few months, LiveCad has at times struggled with being slow, and sometimes unavailable. We are still trying to pinpoint the exact cause of this problem, with the continued goal of making LiveCad's uptime as close to 100% as possible.

For the past 2 1/2 years until now, we have relied on user donations to sustain LiveCad. While this model was initially successful, it has proven to be unsustainable due to the low percentage of users donating (only about 3% of users donated anything), and that most donations that were made were "one-time" donations. Therefore, in a effort to make LiveCad sustainable for the future and ensure that first responders continue to benefit from this service, we will be switching to a yearly subscription model in the very near future.

Here are some questions/answers concerning the upcoming changes to LiveCad... if you have additional questions about the changes to LiveCad, send an email to

Q. How will the new subscription model work?

A. The new subscription model will be based on "concurrent connections", not per device. For instance, if you have a single subscription, it means that you can view LiveCad on a single device at any given time with your login. If you're viewing LiveCad on your phone, you could close LiveCad on your phone and then view it on a tablet/computer/etc. You could not, however, have it open on your phone AND your tablet at the same time.

Q. When will the new subscription model go into effect?

A. Likely sometime in August of this year.

Q. How much will the yearly subscription be?

A. The price has not been finalized, but will likely be around $15.00 per year.

Q. Can I share my account with spouse/family?

A. Yes, but keep in mind that if you have a single subscription, only one person will be able to view LiveCad at the same time.

Q. What happens if I donated in the past?

A. We are working on a plan to accommodate those users who have supported us in the past.

Q. I want to have one login account for all my trucks at the fire department.

A. We can work with individual fire departments to create a single login for station/truck computers, or other special circumstances as needed. Send an email to with any questions you might have.

Q. Will it cost anything for the dispatch center to join LiveCad?

A. There will continue to be no cost for the dispatch center to send data to the LiveCad server.

Q. Why are we switching to a subscription model?

A. The goal is to make LiveCad sustainable for the long-term future. Only a small percentage of users have donated any amount, and many of the users that did donate were one-time donations. With a continued increase in the number of users (and therefore need for server and programming upgrades), a change to a subscription model is necessary to ensure sustainability.

Q. What future enhancments are planned for LiveCad?

A. Income from the subscription model will be used to upgrade servers/backend programming to improve stability/uptime, and also to build enhancments to LiveCad, such as a mobile app with push notifications and custom user configurations.
